61 degrees

It was 61 degrees at 2pm.
This is January 9th.
It seems strange.
Surreal.

A slight breeze from the south-west felt refreshing
when I was walking in the sun.

The ice has melted from the little pond.

I could hear the Northern Flickers call to each other.

The Carolina Wren was waiting for me at home.
It is too early for nesting.

I looked about for bugs.
I only saw a gnat and a fly.

I sat in the sun and took my socks and shoes off.

The wind will shift. It will be cold again.

Today I just enjoyed the warmth.

How did your feet like the feel of sunshine? ;~)

Dear Tc,
It felt wonderful...the wind did shift and it is so cold now...the wind is strong out of the north. I am so glad my toes were able to get a bit of sunshine.

we all need these respites from the cold and to feel the sunshine on our faces/feet, wonderful!

Dear Marmee,
It did feel nice...it is kind of hard to acclimate when the temperature swings 40 degrees in 12 hours! This morning it is so cold...19 degrees.
I am somewhat concerned for my perennials. I hope they keep sleeping.

Sounds lovely and warm there! I love both the wren and cardinal shots!

Dear Mary,
Today the north wind is howling and artic air is coming in. As the day unfolds it just gets colder and colder. I am snuggled up in my long silks and blanket and space heater...remembering a week ago and the warmth.
Glad I got out when I could!
We are on the up side of spring.
