Daffodils

I seem to have caught a bit of a fever while on vacation.
Perhaps it was all the fun I had!

When I arrived home the birds were hungry

and all the daffodils were in bloom.

I had been away from the news for over a week.

I caught a weather report this morning, 100% chance for a wintry mix tonight and again tomorrow. Snow accumulations of 5-9 inches. Way too much snow for my daffodils.

All I can do is watch and wait and see. Maybe the snow will stay south. Maybe we will not have ice. I cut a bouquet of Daffodils for the kitchen table.

I am getting my photos processed from my trip. I am posting on Holiday.

Portland, Oregon was lots of fun. Lake Quinault was fantastic even though it rained the entire time we were there. Being in the temperate rain forest does mean lots and lots of rain!

Being with my daughter was the best!

I maybe under the weather a little bit but I wanted to spend a wee bit of time with the daffodils. I bundled up and took a stroll around the yard. I look forward to the drifts of daffodils every year.

The Hyacinth I forced last year are in bloom. The scent fills the backyard.

I shall plant the bulbs I forced this past winter once the weather calms down.

I am looking forward to getting back into my routine.

I need to walk!

I am so happy that you had a great time in the Northwest. Sorry about the weather. But...its that time of year for a lot of the year. :) Its nice to see and listen to the smooth and balanced tone of your writing again. Bundle up for your snow then and get better. Sending you a cure as you finish reading this sentence.

Dearest Sherry,

I am sending you lots of love, warmth and healing energy. May this pass through fast for you.

We did get some ice and snow, not as much as we thought ~ but nevertheless I hope your flowers hold up.

I am so happy you had time with your daughter, and know you miss her. Maybe you'll see her again soon?

Lots of love, and kisses,

Dear Bernie,
Rain and gray skies seems to be the weather in the PNW! I did not mind. Being with my daughter was the best!
The fever slipped away over night.
Thank you for sending a "cure"! I think I was very tired.
When I went outside, to be with the daffodils, I knew it might be my last day to enjoy them this year. Right now they are buried under ice and snow.
I did see some new to me birds while in the PNW. I even have a couple of photographs!

Dear Marmee,
Thank you for your well wishes and the Gypsy tea suggestion. I shall look for it next time I am at my market and have it on hand. I rested well last night and slept in this morning. I feel great now.
The ice and snow did come. The daffodils are flattened and covered with a five inch blanket of snow. It is still snowing....

Dear Judy,
Thank you. I am happy to be home.
The few minutes I was able to spend with the daffodils may have to stay with me until next spring. I do not think they will pop up after such a wet snow. It is to be very cold tonight too.
Daughter hugs are the best!
I already miss her.

Dear Sprite,
Brr... and so sad....
Daffs are down and buried....
My fever broke and I slept soundly. I think I was tired.
This ice and snow has caused damage in the pines...
It is the way of nature now. Climate change has come to my gardens.
Always delightful to hear from you!
Hope you are snug and warm tonight.
Love and light,
Sherry

So glad to hear that you had a wonderful visit with your daughter. My family all came out this weekend from 3 counties away...a surprise for my upcoming birthday mid-week. Isn't it amazing how the bond between mother and child only grows stronger as years past, they fill a need in us. Your daffodils are beautiful...it seems they were waiting for you! Feel Better, Sherry!

When do your magnolias bloom? Ours here in the southern hemisphere are at full bloom, a bit too early as August is normally our coldest month.

Your macro photos are so beautiful.
