Little Pond

There was activity at Little Pond today.
The Mallard was talking up a blue streak.
I heard him as I came down the path.

I did not see the hen today.
Maybe she already has a nest and is sitting.

I enjoyed watching him swim about and come ashore.

There were lots of turtles today sunning.

There was one lone Goose swimming about.
I looked for other signs of Spring at Little Pond but could only see bubbles.
I am looking for frogs and spawn.

Love the turtles Sherry.

Sadly I have not seen any frogs or spawn here this year. Numbers are dropping apparently because of a virus. I hope this is not the case.

Love the mallard, exquisite colours aren't they?

Dear Mari-Nanci,
I did enjoy this picture too!
He was a chatter box!

Dear Cheryl,
I too love the turtles. This little pond has been so polluted in the past. I never used to see any wildlife.
My husband thinks the frogs will emerge soon. It still has been cold with nighttime temps below freezing.
I am so sorry the frogs in your area have a virus! The bees here in the US have a virus that has caused hive collapse. Hope your frogs come back soon!

I love the turtles Sherry. I would go down to the pond all the time just to see them :-} I always had a turtle as a pet when I was a child (complete with little dish and palm tree)!

Dear Deb,
This is the first year I have seen turtles at this pond. It is very exciting for me too. How fun you had the little turtles when you were little! I remember the little dish and the plastic palm tree!
We had lots of pets when my kids were little. I do not remember if they had turtles..
I fell in love with my husband when he stopped his car and helped a turtle cross the street! We are turtle people here too!
