Out to lunch

I met my sister for lunch today.
She had a vacation day.
We met in Prairie Village, Kansas.
It is where we grew up.

Prairie Village is a satellite city within the metropolitan area
of Kansas City, Missouri.
Our father built our house in 1954.
When we were kids we would walk to the shopping area often as we lived about ten blocks away.
Meeting for lunch for fun.

After lunch we walked around the Village.
The shopping district has changed over the years.
The clock tower was added and many more shops have sprung up.

They still have an ice cream parlor and a drug store.
There are dress shops, a department store, a day spa, a grocery store and a music store.
Many new landscape features with a mindfulness to native plants.
They have prairie plants; sumac, prairie grasses and Black-eyed Susan's.
A new fountain has been placed around the sculpture of the Prairie Family.
I remember it from when I was a child.

Dear Sherry,

What a wonderful lunch you must have had, walking down memory lane.

Thank you for taking us with you.

Love,

Dear Sprite,
It was nice to visit with my sister; we seldom have the chance.
I did not drive past my childhood home. It is still somewhat difficult for me to see the house.
Had my family been able to keep the house and rent it out I would have been pleased. Not owning the house anymore is somewhat sad to me. It was the right decision to sell the house yet I do miss being able to run my hands over the woodwork my father lovingly built.
Prairie Village is a lovely little city.

My first visit to your blog. I liked your photos and the cicada especially. Also enjoyed reading your post.

Hi Abraham Lincoln,
I was pleased to see the cicada on the prairie grass. This was a fun way to get some exercise. I enjoyed visiting with my sister and seeing my old tromping grounds.

Dear Sigrun,
Thank you! I hope I will be walking again in the mornings very soon. I am getting my evening walk in but since Holiday I have not gotten out in the mornings.
It is almost time for the leaves to turn.
Happy autumn,
Sherry
