Around the block

I walked in my neighborhood this morning.
I looked at my neighbor's Sweet Pea.
I thought of Chris in England.
She grows sweet peas.

Mockingbird followed me down the street.
I find I talk with the birds.
I share my thoughts.
Where ever I looked I saw the Tawny Emperor butterfly.
There are many out now.
I talk with them too.

On the main street, that goes by my house, I have many neighbors.
People I wave to yet seldom speak with.
Today I spoke.
I visited.

One of the ladies has a Trumpet Vine in her backyard.
She has it growing on an old wash line pole.
It is huge. She has clipped and trained her vine so now it looks to be a tree.
The Hummingbirds come and go all day long she told me.

I needed to get home.
I had left the sprinklers on.

Today I am thinking about visiting, socializing and getting to know a few more of my neighbors. I could share some zucchini. I have plenty.

The Bird picture reminds me a poem:
A bird came down to walk
He did not know I saw
He bit an angle worm in halves
And ate the fellow,raw,
And then he drank a dew.
From a convenient grass
And then hopped sidewise to the wall
To let a beetle pass
He glance with rapid eyes
That hurried all around.

You have a lovely blog,I will visit more often.
Thank you too for sharing such beauty in life !

Dear Chitweed,
Taking the time to visit after 30 years of living in my house is good.
I maybe slow but I get there. I am so turtle like!

Dear Laurie,
I think because the street that goes in front of my house is somewhat busy we seldom see the neighbors. They are not walkers and are not usually out in their front yards. I do see them drive past and so we wave. All of the children have grown up too so no kids playing.
Today I made an effort to stop and visit when I saw one lady in her side yard trimming bushes. Her next door neighbor came out and for the first time in my adult life I visited with a neighbor over a fence. Not my fence, I do not have fences, but a fence none the less.
It did give me the feeling of community. The neighbors that live down the side street and I do visit more! If I could meet and greet one new to me neighbor every week I might get to know my neighborhood after 30 years.
It is worth the effort.
Thanks for walking with me. It is nice to get to know you.
I am enjoying my cyberspace neighborhood too.

Sherry
