Mimosa

A fifteen minute walk from my house,
across the overpass and discount center, an old Mimosa grows.

It is in full bloom.
In my backyard a Mimosa grows in my neighbor's Forsythia hedge.
It has been cut down many times.
Now that my neighbor is in a nursing home it has a chance to flourish.
Perhaps it will yet bloom this year.

The birds planted a Mimosa tree near my front porch two years ago.
We need to remove it. It is consider an invasive tree, non-native.

I think they are pretty.

The butterflies and Hummingbirds like them.

Those flowers look like they were swipped from a tropical bird head.

Dear Cathy,
I think the blooms are so pretty. They do have the feathered look of a Tropical exotic bird!
I have pictures from last year of the hummingbirds nectaring in the tree in back. Also the Monarchs! So far no blooms in my tree, maybe in August.

Sherry,

These are beautiful photos of the Mimosa. They are so delicate looking, and in the photograph one can see each individual hair like petal (I don't know what they are called.)

Oh, I do hope the neighbor's blooms for you this year.

Dear Sprite,
I think each "pink hair" is a seed.
They have millions and I think they easily root and that is why they are considered invasive.
I like them. I think they are very pretty trees.
I hope the Mimsa in the backyard blooms too!
The blooms seem to have a light right inside of each one!
