Good Morning

It was chilly this morning.
I wrapped up in my blanket
and sat on the deck.
I would walk later.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw
a Buckeye Butterfly float in.

He did not stay very long.
I grabbed my shoes.
Maybe he was in the front yard.
It was 38 degrees out.
Too cold for butterflies.

After walking around the yard, I began walking down the street.
Some of the trees are still full of leaves.

Some were bare.
The sun was warm, the breeze light.
Warm enough for a butterfly.
Warm enough for a morning walk.

Blustery Morning

The wind is gusting
out of the north west.

The leaves are dancing in the sky

and on the ground.

I walked early
in the warmest part of the day.

I will walk again this afternoon.
I want to feel the temperatures drop.
I want to dance with the leaves.

November blooms

I smelled honeysuckle
before I saw it.
The Weigela in my neighbor's yard
is blooming.
A miniature red rose was open.
The moon is barely visible.

It is sunny out and pleasant.
I walked at mid-day with a sweater on.

Two Walks

I walked around the yard
in my robe and slippers.
I wanted to feel the first frost.
I welcomed November.
I ate a wild violet.
It was refreshing.

The rabbit's home glittered.
At noon I walked again.
The Orange Sulphurs were awake.
The wild violets seemed untouched.

I will walk this evening.
Walking in November's light,
morning, noon and night.

In the cemetery

A northern wind in a cloudy sky

sent chills into my bones.

The veil is thin today.

I climbed the hills
encouraged by a tree.
Happy Halloween.

Chorus of color

Mockingbird was with me
this morning.

I walked in my neighborhood.

The trees are at peak color.

Standing under them
is standing in nature's cathedral.
Listening to them is hearing the song of October.

The leaves are beginning to fall.
October is leaving in a blaze of color.

In Living Color

A quick walk in the early morning light.
A walk around my yard.
I am waiting for my younger brother.
We are going to have breakfast together.
We are going to our childhood neighborhood.
I am taking the camera.
I want to see the trees of my youth in their Autumn color.
