Ides of March

The Hairy Woodpeckers are large birds, measuring about 9 1/2 inches.
They look like little Downy Woodpeckers only much larger. They seem to be an exaggerated Downy.
We have a pair of Hairy Woodpeckers that feed at the nut feeders. I am always excited when I see them.

Our 2 1/2 inches of snow from yesterday melted quickly this morning.
We have a couple of raccoons visiting the deck at night.

Spring is slowly coming to my backyard.

Every year I think I should plant more crocus.
They are my first flowers.
Mocking bird is a regular visitor.
He does like the raisins we put out.
We waited to walk until twilight.
The trees in the cemetery are beginning to bud.
The Blue Birds had claimed their tree for the night.
There were too many clouds to see Mercury at sunset.

Beautiful photos, Sherry! I don't have ANY crocus or hyacinths or tulips and only a few jonquils. I must must must remedy that situation. I adore them. :) I had a Downy early last year, but for the most part the adorable woodpeckers don't visit my yard yet. My trees and shrubs are still to young to suit them.
