Warm January Day

Today it warmed to 58 degrees.
We worked outside.
We changed our baking day to Friday.

This afternoon a few bugs emerged.
I watched them dance in the sunlight.

My husband turned the water on so he could water the figs and pear trees.
It has been a dry winter.

The garlic and parsely are growing in the vegetable garden.

I took my afternoon tea to the deck.

Spending time in the sun with the birds was very enjoyable.

A winter storm is headed our way.
By Thursday we could have snow.
I hope so.

The the more I read about Japanese design the more I want to know.

I will keep studying.
I think it is beautiful.

I stayed outside until the crows flew to roost.
I will remember the dance of the bugs when the winds turn to the north
and the snow dances on the deck.

Bugs in January! Wow! And greenery in your garden. I am impressed. We too have had a dry winter, most unusual.

I hope you get a gentle snowstorm. Not destructive, just to give the earth some moisture.
Love your birds!

Piękne ptaki :-). U nas też pogoda, nie taka, jaka powinna być na tą porę roku. Pozdrawiam.

Beautiful birds :-). Here too the weather, not as it should be for this time of year. Yours.

Dear Sherry,

I have seen bugs in the garden during this very mild winter. It is incredible, isn't it?
You garlic and parsley look great.....I love them both, and grow them in the garden also.

I hope the snow arrives soon and winter is as it should be. We have a cold front coming in on Friday and temperatures should be right for the time of year.

I have many birds in the garden. Fieldfare and Redwings have come to the gardens to feed on the berries. They fly in from Sweden, and join our Song Thrush, they can make quite large flocks.
I have given up trying to take photographs of the birds, it really is quite impossible :(

Happy gardening :)

Sherry I'm with Wendy, I hope you get just enough snow to make you happy and nothing more.

Yes, January has been very unusual and because I have lived in cold weather all my life...The weather for me has been a break and a treat from all the Brrrr! that come along with cold winters.
Lovely post...

Beautiful photos - I especially liked the one of the Carolina Wren!
I am enjoying following your blog.

It went all the way up to 60 degrees here yesterday... windy and on the way down to 30 in the next few days. But we have had a very wet couple of months.

It's so nice to take your tea to the deck, seeing pretty birds in the sun in this season!
I'm glad you like Japanese designs.
I heard the iron kettle in your book cover is good to supplement iron our body need.
I also like the design of the Tokuri(a container of sake).

This has been such an unusually mild winter in the Central Midwest. Some flowers and plants are beginning to sprout or bud. It was in the low 60's yesterday, very unusual. There are still two to three months of time for severe winter weather. What affect will this warm weather have long term on plants?

I was recommended this website by my cousin. I’m not sure whether this post is written by him as no one else know such detailed about my difficulty. You are amazing! Thanks!
