What a magnificent bird and your photos are wonderful. We had a hawk visit our garden once and eat a sparrow in front of us. I was horrified at first and then ended up respecting him as there was no waste. It wasn't sport but hunger.
The feathers on that bird are a visual feast, lovely photography, you must have endless patience, all I capture is a blur if I photograph birds or butterflies! I am glad to see you husband is obviously a kindred spirit who enjoys the quirky things of life, happy birthday husband!
I think that to see Cooper's Hawk's hunting is interesting.I'd like to see it. I knew American family is the same as japanese family from "He has enjoyed being remembered". Happy birthday to your husband.

Cooper's Hawk is wonderful..... I would love to be able to get a photograph of the sparrowhawk that spends time in the copse. It is just so frustrating. One day, maybe.

I very much enjoyed seeing the pictures of birds. I attempted to get a picture of a brown hawk today but he kept flying away. I need a better camera :-) You must live in a rural and beautiful area.

I know they eat my sparrows, but I love Cooper's Hawks! Magestic!
