Goldfinches in the Coneflowers

The Goldfinches came to the coneflowers this afternoon.

It is hot but they do not seem to mind.
I watched for a few minutes
 from the dining room window.
Soon I was outside in the heat too.

I sat in the grass and watched a family of Goldfinches.
I forgot about the heat for a few minutes.

I would forget the heat, too, watching these guys fill their bellies! I think the first shot is my favourite!

I tried to take photos of our goldfinches today (before I saw your photos). Isn't that funny? But they were very reluctant to come to the feeder when I was anywhere in the yard. Such shy birds. My photos were not good. You have a gift for making birds comfortable I think as well as a gift for beautiful photography. :)

Dear Sherry, who watches the Goldfinch,

The Goldfinch are so bright and colourful. I love the last image, the bird looks so inquisitive.

Nature transports us, if only for a moment. The heat of the day can be tiring......

Gold finches are so beautiful. I LOVE their beautiful bright yellow color and the odd little high pitch sounds they make. I use to hang thistle socks out for them all summer long when I lived in Michigan.

Thanks for sharing.

Great shots of the gold finches! My gold finches have been at my zinnias lately. It's a matter of time before they find my newly blooming coneflowers.

They are sooooo beautiful, SherryQ!! This is the first year that I've only had a couple of Goldfinches. We usually have scads of them and I desperately miss their bold happy yellows. I'm so happy that they are enjoying spending time at your lovely house. :)
