The Zebra Swallowtail does not come to the garden very often.
It is an exciting event when they do.
We stop what we are doing and watch them.
Today was a gorgeous September day.
Two Zebras graced our backyard.
One was in perfect condition
the other was Summer weary.
The Zebra over winter in the pupa stage.
I have three Paw-paw bushes, the host plant for the caterpillars.
I do hope a few pupa over winter in my backyard.

They are a male and a female? So a male is more beautiful in butterfly world? It's opposit in human world, I hope.

Beautiful butterflies. I live in Ireland and saw some powder blue butterflies recently that I had never seen before and that same day I watched striped red and black butterflies, lots of them. I was sheltering from the wind by an old lighthouse so on a cliff face looking out on the sea. Obviously butterflies that like the wilds of the sea cliffs. K
